History

The dark chocolate truffle recipe originates from Sophie's great-great-grandmother Sophie Antoinette Elink Schuurman-de Heus and is over a 100 years old. Sophie prepares the truffles in exactly the same way, using only the purest and best ingredients. The dark chocolate used by Sophie is Fair Trade Valrhona Chocolate (72%). Each truffle is meticulously rolled in the finest cocoa. Sophie launched Sophie's Truffels in 1998 when she was living in Istanbul, Turkey. She is often inspired by her wonderful daughter Juliette who has many creative ideas of her own. Sophie learned to make the dark chocolate truffles from her mother through the original recipe book her great-great-grandmother compiled and which is a wonderful source for our family today.
